Budget Management for Organizations¶
Organization admins can track and control spending across all group-billed projects.
Organization-Level Tracking¶
The organization billing page shows:
- Total group spending across all projects.
- Per-member usage — see who's spending the most.
- Per-project usage — see which projects consume the most credits.
- Daily spend trends — monitor spending over the last 14 days.
Project-Level Budgets¶
Individual budget caps are set at the project level, not the organization level. For each group-billed project:
- Open the project → Settings.
- Set a budget limit in the Budget Management section.
- When the project hits its limit, AI operations are blocked for all members in that project.
See Budget Caps for details on managing project budgets.
Monitoring Spending¶
By Member¶
The Usage by Member breakdown shows each person's:
- Name and email
- Number of operations
- Total cost
This helps identify who's driving costs and whether any member might need guidance on efficient AI usage.
By Project¶
The Usage by Project breakdown (sorted by cost, highest first) shows:
- Project name
- Number of operations
- Total cost
By Model¶
The Usage by Model breakdown shows spending per AI model:
- Claude Opus (highest cost per token)
- Claude Sonnet (mid-range)
- Claude Haiku (lowest cost per token)
- Titan Embeddings (for file processing)
Controlling costs
If costs are higher than expected:
- Review which models are being used — encourage Haiku for simpler tasks.
- Check if large files are being uploaded frequently (embedding costs).
- Set project-level budget caps to prevent overspending.
- Review the daily spend chart for unusual spikes.
